The sleeper version of Vande Bharat Express will have enhanced safety, interior, passenger comfort but the fare will be within the reach of the middle class. The Railway Minister said this.
A sleeper version of the Vande Bharat Express was created for overnight train travel as an alternative to first class trains like the Rajdhani and Durant. If you board the train at night then
the much awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper train will reach the destination the next morning.
The Railway Minister said that Bande Bharat sleeper coach will be run for testing for one and a half to two months. Vande Bharat’s 16-room air-conditioned self-contained train will be ready for passenger service within the next three months, he said.
The sleeper version of Vande Bharat will run between 800 km and 1,200 km at a speed of 160 km/hr.
Keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, there are many facilities in the sleeper class of Bande Bharat Express. According to the Railway Ministry, the fare of semi-high speed Vande Bharat train will be kept within the reach of the middle class.
Last year in October, Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnav had shared some photos of the sleeper prototype of One Day Bharat Express on social media. At that time he had told that the sleeper version of Bande Bharat Express would arrive by next August.
In an interview given to the media, the Railway Minister said that keeping in mind the interior design, passenger convenience and train running technology as well as safety inside the coach, the berth has been made light but strong.
Apart from this, the train will have many facilities including modern automatic doors, reading lights, multiple USB charging points, air conditioning system, better toilets.
The train will have 16 coaches including 11 AC three-tier, four AC two-tier and one AC first class. The total number of berths in 11 AC three tier coaches will be 611. There will be 188 berths in 4 AC two tier coaches and 24 berths in AC first class coaches.
The new version of the train will also have visual information systems, display panels and security cameras apart from a public announcement system.
For the convenience of passengers, the sleeper first class coach of Vande Bharat will also have the facility of hot water. There will be separate toilet facilities for specially abled persons.
Special care has also been taken to ensure that elderly passengers do not face any problem in boarding the new train. Not only this, special care has also been taken to ensure that passengers do not get hurt by various materials inside the room.
To strengthen the security of the berth, thick steel sheets have been used in place of chains. To avoid accidents, ‘coach system’ will be used in this train.
This train also has an advanced fire protection system. There will be a fire extinguisher in every room.
Railways launched Bande Bharat Express train for medium distance travel. Now 41 Bande Bharat Expresses are running across the country.
According to sources, Railways wants to make 800 sleeper expresses in India by 2030.
